This design started with just the circular monkey illustration. We loved the character, but felt it needed something more, a world around it that would make the design feel fully immersed in the garment.
So we created the forest.
Originally, this design was created to support Lybomi, a wonderful monkey sanctuary that we were proud to work with. But as RooDoo has grown we realised we wanted to support animal conservation on a broader scale — beyond one sanctuary, one species or one location.
A reason to make
Why African Wildlife? Over the past 50 years, Africa has lost 76% of its monitored wildlife populations.
Across the continent, wildlife is under growing pressure from habitat loss, deforestation, human–wildlife conflict, poaching and the illegal wildlife trade. Expanding agriculture, bushmeat consumption and climate change are adding further pressure to already fragile ecosystems.
This won’t be the only organisation in Africa that we support. Africa is one of the most important and extraordinary places for wildlife on Earth, yet its natural world continues to face enormous pressure.
We want RooDoo to support the people and organisations working to protect these animals and the wild places they depend on.
From the animals
to the people protecting them.
The people behind the protection
Wild Africa uses the power of media, storytelling and influential voices to raise awareness and drive action for wildlife conservation across Africa.
Their work promotes a future where people and wildlife can live alongside one another, tackling issues such as habitat loss, poaching, illegal wildlife trade and human–wildlife conflict.
Working across countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia, Wild Africa partners with broadcasters, media organisations and hundreds of ambassadors from the worlds of music, sport, film, business and government.
We chose Wild Africa because protecting Africa's wildlife requires more than protecting individual animals. It requires changing attitudes, supporting conservation efforts and giving people a reason to care. Media is a way to spread the message amongst the masses.
